Fou agent literari, editor, autor i actor, per\u00f2 la seva tasca principal fou la de difondre i donar a con\u00e8ixer autors de ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3, fantasia i terror. Fou fundador de la LASFS, el 1934.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Entre altres m\u00e8rits, el 1953 se li atorg\u00e0 un premi Hugo fet a la seva mida, #1 FAN PERSONALITY; tamb\u00e9 es considerava el creador del terme sci-fi, s\u00edmil de hi-fi, i el major col\u00b7leccionista de ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3, fantasia i terror del m\u00f3n.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Podeu veure&#8217;l en el videoclip <em>Thriller<\/em>, assegut darrera de <strong>Michael Jackson<\/strong> al comen\u00e7ament, i escoltar-lo en aquest disc sobre la hist\u00f2ria (i la m\u00fasica) dels robots.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1NeN1IkkzNo<\/div>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Aqu\u00ed, per\u00f2, poc o res sabem (o sab\u00edem) d\u2019aquest home ateu, casat i sense fills, que duia l\u2019anell de <strong>Bela Lugosi<\/strong> a <em>Dracula<\/em> mentre organitzava visites per la col\u00b7lecci\u00f3 de casa seva. Se l\u2019anomenava afectuosament oncle Forry. D\u2019haver viscut m\u00e9s anys, pot-ser l\u2019hagu\u00e9ssim vist en un episodi de <em>Big Bang Theory<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Per\u00f2 el fet \u00e9s que el 1968, l&#8217;editorial Bruguera va acceptar un enc\u00e0rrec editorial de l\u2019oncle Forry.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Segons aquest contracte, en<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebay.com\/itm\/372549619344\"> subhasta a ebay per 130$<\/a> en el moment d\u2019escriure aquestes l\u00ednies, l\u2019antologia es va signar el 1967 amb el t\u00edtol provisional HORROR ANTHOLOGY edited by F.J. Ackerman, amb l\u2019afegit\u00f3 de ser provisional. L\u2019obra fou exclusiva pel mercat espanyol. Tanmateix, cada col\u00b7laborador de l\u2019antologia rebria un exemplar de franc de la m\u00e0 d&#8217;Ackerman. L\u2019agent d\u2019Ackerman a Europa apareix com <strong>Albert van Halgeland<\/strong>, conegut ant\u00f2leg belga, i <strong>Jos\u00e9 Moya<\/strong>, co-agent de Halgeland a Espanya.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>El t\u00edtol final fou LAS MEJORES HISTORIAS DE HORROR; per\u00f2 el t\u00edtol original d\u2019Ackerman, ressenyat en l\u2019obra, \u00e9s molt m\u00e9s fidel al contingut: ANTHOLOGY OF WEIRD STORIES.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"289\" height=\"475\" class=\"wp-image-1899\" src=\"https:\/\/elecosinpasos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/lasmejores.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/elecosinpasos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/lasmejores.jpg 289w, https:\/\/elecosinpasos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/lasmejores-183x300.jpg 183w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 289px) 100vw, 289px\" \/>\r\n<figcaption>Coberta de Las mejores historias de horror. Libro amigo. 1969, Barcelona.<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Entre l&#8217;horrible i l&#8217;estrany<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>L\u2019edici\u00f3, dins de Libro Amigo de Bruguera, forma part de la col\u00b7lecci\u00f3 <em>Antolog\u00edas<\/em>, de les quals, l\u2019editorial en va fer una \u00e0mplia difusi\u00f3 de g\u00e8neres com el fantasmal, la ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3 o el terror. Per\u00f2 en el cas d\u2019Ackerman es van decidir pel terme HORROR en comptes d\u2019ESTRANY, fet que potser el 1969 no tenia cap m\u00e9s rellev\u00e0ncia pel lector espanyol que el ganxo editorial. Pensem que una de les primeres revistes d&#8217;\u00e0mbit hisp\u00e0 que es va dedicar a publicar antologies, <em>Narraciones Terror\u00edficas<\/em>, d&#8217;editorial Acervo, als 1960 i 1970, es subtitulaba \u00abcuentos de misterio\u00bb i inclo\u00efa contes humor\u00edstics.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Perqu\u00e8 el g\u00e8nere d\u2019horror o de terror hauria de tenir un objectiu clar: generar una atmosfera que provoqui un calfred o una sensaci\u00f3 d\u2019angoixa o basarda. Ara b\u00e9, les hist\u00f2ries de l\u2019antologia s\u00f3n WEIRD-FICTION, o si es prefereix, hist\u00f2ries publicades en revistes \u201cpulp\u201d que van i v\u00e9nen m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 de l\u2019horror, la ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3, el polic\u00edac o el terror, encara que comparteixen la sorpresa d\u2019all\u00f2 ins\u00f2lit o estrany, i sovint macabre.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Com apunta Rafael Llopis (a <em>Historia natural de los cuentos de miedo<\/em>), de totes les revistes <em>pulp<\/em> fou <em>Weird-Tales<\/em> (publicada entre 1923-1954) la primera exclusiva de contes de terror. Va agombolar autors i lectors, va educar el gust per tots els g\u00e8neres del fant\u00e0stic i de terror, i va donar un fort impuls a la ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3. Tamb\u00e9 va incloure i fomentar tots els subg\u00e8neres de contes \u00abextrems\u00bb, o morbosos que cauen en diferents subg\u00e8neres amb total llibertat. Aix\u00f2 fa que sota el nom de <em>Weird Tales<\/em> i c\u00e0piga un \u00abcalaix de sastre\u00bb de diferents g\u00e8neres, qualitats i estils, no exclusivament de terror.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Bona part dels relats de l&#8217;antologia van ser publicats per <em>Weird Tales<\/em>, per\u00f2 en general tots han nascut en una publicaci\u00f3 <em>pulp<\/em>. Les 668 p\u00e0gines que completen els 55 relats s\u00f3n un esfor\u00e7 gener\u00f3s d\u2019Ackerman per a representar aquests subg\u00e8neres d&#8217;entre 1899 i 1969, majorit\u00e0riament nord-americans. El primer que notar\u00e0 el lector \u00e9s que bona part dels noms i obres no li s\u00f3n coneguts. Aqu\u00ed en trobar\u00e0 la llista de <a href=\"https:\/\/tercerafundacion.net\/biblioteca\/ver\/ficha\/6974\">tercerafundaci\u00f3n<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Com ell mateix indica en el pr\u00f2leg, no li interessa antologar autors consagrats, \u201cdemasiado repetidos\u201d, el 1967. Amb tot, Ackerman inclou obres poc conegudes d\u2019autors consagrats com <em>Decorado en la noche<\/em>, de <strong>Ray Bradbury<\/strong>, <em>La catedral de la cripta<\/em>, conte cruel de l\u2019angl\u00e8s <strong>John Wyndham<\/strong>; \u00a0<em>La venganza de Nitocris<\/em>, de <strong>Tenessse Williams<\/strong> (testimoni d\u2019un \u201cgran\u201d que de jove escrivia Weird Fiction el 1928); <em>El invitado de Dr\u00e0cula<\/em>, relat que inspir\u00e0 un cap\u00edtol de l\u2019obra d\u2019<strong>Stoker<\/strong>; o <em>Mil muertes<\/em>, del polifac\u00e8tic <strong>Jack London<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Hi ha 3 relats del mateix Ackerman (i tres en col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3, sota <strong>pseud\u00f2nims<\/strong>) que poc aporten a la col\u00b7lecci\u00f3 a banda de demostrar que Ackerman (o Alden Lorraine, Laurajean Ermayne, Spencer Strong, o Weaver Wright) on millor sap desenvolupar la seva tasca de fan \u00e9s donant a con\u00e8ixer la dels seus col\u00b7laboradors.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Despr\u00e9s de googlejar una estona, algunes d\u2019aquestes biografies resulten m\u00e9s interessants que les seves obres. <strong>Autors aficionats<\/strong> que es guanyaven la vida amb una altra professi\u00f3: cient\u00edfics, guionistes, il\u00b7lustradors, fans, periodistes, etc&#8230; per\u00f2 que trobaven en les revistes una v\u00e0lvula d\u2019escapament.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A vegades fa la sensaci\u00f3 que l\u2019antologia \u00e9s una <strong>n\u00f2mina d\u2019autors <\/strong>per a introduir-se en l\u2019escena de les publicacions pulp, o de les societats de ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3; per exemple, el relat de <strong>Hanes Bok<\/strong>, <em>Tr\u00e1gica magia<\/em>, massa enmarcat pel narrador per a ser representatiu, \u00e9s, per\u00f2, un testimoni de la tasca d\u2019escriptor d\u2019un dels il\u00b7lustradors pulp m\u00e9s reconeguts, premi Hugo <em>Best Cover Artist<\/em>, 1953.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Aix\u00ed mateix, el relat que tanca la selecci\u00f3, <em>\u00daltimo acto: Octubre<\/em>, fou escrit per <strong>Edythe Eyde<\/strong>, pionera del moviment LGTBI de la costa oest, satanista i amiga d\u2019Ackerman; tot i que \u00e9s un relat correcte sobre una mainadera de moral reformadora enfrontada a una maledicci\u00f3 ancestral, crec que el desenlla\u00e7 podria haver fet un altre pas de rosca.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A prop\u00f2sit del g\u00e8nere, Ackerman inclou un relat seu amb pseud\u00f2nim, <em>Ente de blasfemia<\/em>, sobre un home convertit per un cient\u00edfic boig en una dona que ha de viure en un m\u00f3n d\u2019homes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"530\" height=\"582\" class=\"wp-image-1900\" src=\"https:\/\/elecosinpasos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Tigrina.jpeg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/elecosinpasos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Tigrina.jpeg 530w, https:\/\/elecosinpasos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Tigrina-273x300.jpeg 273w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/>\r\n<figcaption>Tigrina, Edythe Eyde, llegint un Weird Tales del 1945 (de https:\/\/turniplanterns.wordpress.com\/)<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Vampirs<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Hi ha 8 hist\u00f2ries de vampirs, de les quals en destacaria <em>La muerte es un lugar solitario<\/em>, de<strong> Bill Warren<\/strong>, ajudant d\u2019Ackerman. El relat, del 1968, \u00e9s una hist\u00f2ria rom\u00e0ntica no corresposta, entre un vampir nihilista i una acomodadora de cinema de matinades. \u00c9s una anticipaci\u00f3 d\u2019aquell existencialisme vamp\u00edric que novel\u00b7lar\u00e0 <strong>Anne Rice<\/strong>, on surt ja el motiu de la nost\u00e0lgia per veure la sortida de sol<em>.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A<em> El invitado de Dr\u00e1cula <\/em>d\u2019Stoker li afegir\u00edem el punt de vista de <em>Cuesti\u00f3n de identidad<\/em>, de <strong>Robert Bloch<\/strong>, l\u2019ambientaci\u00f3 hist\u00f2rica de <em>Flores de Th\u00fcringen<\/em> de <strong>Wade Wellman<\/strong>, o el <em>plot-twist<\/em> de <em>Cenizas con cenizas, muerte con muerte<\/em>, de <strong>Sathanas Rehan<\/strong> i <strong>G. John Edwards<\/strong>. Aquests, per\u00f2, tamb\u00e9 mereixen una lectura pels seus estil narratius, variats i intensos.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Sobre Wellman, l\u2019an\u00e8cdota a recordar \u00e9s que va guanyar <strong>William Faulkner<\/strong> en un certamen d\u2019una revista pulp, <em>Queen Mistery Magazine Award<\/em>, el 1946, dos anys abans de rebre el Nobel, provocant una irada contestaci\u00f3 contra l\u2019editorial.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Per altra banda, la <a href=\"http:\/\/thethunderchild.com\/Movies\/VertliebViews\/ForryAckermanTribute.html\">d\u2019Stephen Vertlieb<\/a>, <em>La segunda muerte de Dr\u00e1cula<\/em>, fou seleccionada a proposta del mateix Ackerman: un pel massa rebuscada, per\u00f2, escrita amb el mateix estil d\u2019Stoker, \u00e9s una raresa dif\u00edcil de trobar avui en dia, per\u00f2 que als 1960, en plena \u00e8poca <em>Hammer<\/em>, segurament no va passar desapercebuda.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>El cercle de Lovecraft<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>S\u2019inclou <em>El desafio del m\u00e1s all\u00e0<\/em>, potser l\u2019obra menys can\u00f2nica per\u00f2 m\u00e9s divertida del g\u00e8nere, enc\u00e0rrec fet a 5 mans amb altres autors de <em>weird-fiction<\/em> (<strong>C.L. Moore<\/strong>, <strong>A. Merritt<\/strong>, <strong>H.P. Lovecraft<\/strong>, <strong>Robert E. Howard<\/strong>, i <strong>Frank Belknap Long<\/strong>) per a la nova revista <em>Fantasy Magazine<\/em> de 1935.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Aquesta obra, val a dir, \u00e9s una fantasia de les menys conegudes i publicades en espanyol (i per suposat, en catal\u00e0) on cada escriptor havia de resoldre una part del mateix relat. Sembla ser que F. Belknap Long va estar a punt de trencar la col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 per desavinences amb A. Merritt, i que gr\u00e0cies a Lovecraft van poder resoldre aquest divertiment a cinc mans. No t\u00e9 res a envejar a un episodi de <em>Rick i Morty<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Dins d\u2019aquest g\u00e8nere d\u2019horror c\u00f2smic tamb\u00e9 destaca la primera versi\u00f3 de <em>El habitante de las profundidades de Marte<\/em>, de <strong>Clark Ashton Smith<\/strong>, un conte \u00abmassa horrible\u00bb pels lectors, per\u00f2 publicat finalment per <em>Wonder Stories<\/em>, despr\u00e9s que Hugo Gernsback l&#8217;esporgu\u00e9s i modifiqu\u00e9s al gust dels seus lectors de sci-fi, la qual cosa va provocar l&#8217;abandonament parcial de l&#8217;autor. Val a dir que la hist\u00f2ria original, <em>The Dweller in the Gulf<\/em>, va ser restaurada posteriorment per Arkham House.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Tamb\u00e9 caldria incloure el <em>Dios-monstruo de Mamurth<\/em>, d\u2019<strong>Edmond Hamilton<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"318\" height=\"429\" data-id=\"1909\" class=\"wp-image-1909\" src=\"https:\/\/elecosinpasos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/the-dweller.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/elecosinpasos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/the-dweller.jpg 318w, https:\/\/elecosinpasos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/the-dweller-222x300.jpg 222w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 318px) 100vw, 318px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n<figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-caption\">Coberta del Wonder Stories, del 1933, on es representa el relat de Derleth \u00abmodificat\u00bb per assemblar-se m\u00e9s a una opera espacial.<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Tamb\u00e9 hi s\u00f3n els editors d\u2019<em>Arkham House<\/em>, <strong>August Derleth<\/strong> i <strong>Donald Wandrei<\/strong>. Derleth i el <em>Doceavo cadaver del se\u00f1or Birkett <\/em>cont\u00e9 l\u2019humor negre i macabre del conte cruel sobrenatural, mentre que <em>La llama verde <\/em>de Wandrei s\u2019emmarca en un d\u2019aquells relats curts del cercle de Lovecraft potser amb massa pirot\u00e8cnia.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>El conte cruel<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Trobem, per exemple, diversos \u201ccontes cruels\u201d, alguns d\u2019ells emmarcats en els g\u00e8nere de ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3, bruixeries, o vampirs. D\u2019aquests, el dest\u00ed dels personatges sol ser macabre i amb un <strong>toc d\u2019ironia<\/strong>, com en el cas de Derleth. Aquest tipus de conte, quan \u00e9s sobrenatural, recorda molt als de <strong>EC Comics<\/strong> als anys 1940-50, amb les seves <em>Tales from the crypt<\/em> i d\u2019altres, els quals van versionar alguns relats d&#8217;autors com Ray Bardbury.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>D\u2019aquests en destacaria <em>La \u00faltima cena<\/em>, de l\u2019escriptora<strong> Thelma Hamm<\/strong>, quasi un microrelat de ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3; <em>Oscar<\/em>, de <strong>Cleve Martin<\/strong>, amb la seva met\u00e0fora del pastor mentider adaptada a un grup de bromistes de l\u2019ocultisme; <em>No, yo no<\/em>! del franc\u00e8s folklorista <strong>Claude Seginolle<\/strong>, per l\u2019estil surreal i experimental del flux d\u2019escriptura; <em>El martillo de Ca\u00edn<\/em>, de <strong>James Causey<\/strong> i <strong>Bill Blackbeard<\/strong>, una hist\u00f2ria d\u2019obsessi\u00f3 sobre un objecte male\u00eft, i sobre tot, <em>La mujer muerta<\/em>, de <strong>David H Keller MD<\/strong>, del primer cient\u00edfic \u2013psiquiatra\u2013 en escriure de manera reconeguda <em>weird-fiction<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><em>Embarque de maldad<\/em>, de <strong>W. S. Cobun Jr<\/strong><em>., <\/em>encara que massa ingenu, \u00e9s quasi un microrelat que fusiona dos mites ben coneguts: el del vampir i el de l\u2019Holand\u00e8s errant. Per\u00f2 menci\u00f3 especial tenen <em>La escudilla de cobre<\/em>, una aventura s\u00e0dica del <strong>Major George Eliot Fielding<\/strong> i <em>Los deseos que formulamos<\/em>, de l\u2019escriptora <strong>Edna Mayne Hull<\/strong>, esposa de A. E Van Vogt<\/a><\/strong>, \u00e9s possiblement la millor hist\u00f2ria de la selecci\u00f3, sobre un predador en forma humana en un illot del pac\u00edfic; el valor de l\u2019obra, per\u00f2, no \u00e9s tant l\u2019argument sin\u00f3 com est\u00e0 constru\u00efda la narraci\u00f3. Schuyller Miller<\/strong>, una narraci\u00f3 atemporal i mitol\u00f2gica, sobre una venjan\u00e7a at\u00e0vica.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Com es pot veure, el g\u00e8nere no \u00e9s l\u2019horror, sin\u00f3 la <em>weird-fiction<\/em>, els contes estranys, entesa com un suprag\u00e8nere que pot aventurar-se, o no, en diferens g\u00e8neres narratius alhora per donar forma a una hist\u00f2ria o un nou punt de vista d\u2019un tema ja conegut. Un exemple de fusi\u00f3 de g\u00e8nere d\u2019aventures, ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3 i fantasmes \u00e9s <em>Los muertos andan con suavidad<\/em>, de <strong>Sewell Peasle Wright<\/strong>, i d\u2019opereta espacial, <em>Dhactwhu&#8230; \u00bfRecuerdas? <\/em>de <strong>Robert Lowndes<\/strong> i <strong>Weaver Wright<\/strong> (Ackerman), o la part de <strong>Robert E. Howard<\/strong> en <em>El Desafio del m\u00e1s all\u00e0<\/em>. Per\u00f2 la variaci\u00f3 d\u2019estils tamb\u00e9 aporta el seu granet de sorra: no se\u2019ns far\u00e0 pesat avan\u00e7ar pels seus encerts o clix\u00e9s, foscors o claredats.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>La <em>weird-fiction<\/em> fusiona g\u00e8neres i sovint els traspassa de la mateixa manera que alguns dels seus autors eren capa\u00e7os de dominar diferents registres i g\u00e8neres. Amb tot, es poden distingir per tem\u00e0tiques: <strong>llegendes i mites, vampirs, bruixeries, fantasmes o dimonis, ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3 i conte cruel<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Crec que si avui dia passem hores i hores en les plataformes de s\u00e8ries i films, en part es deu a la tasca de definici\u00f3 de g\u00e8neres dels <em><strong>pulp<\/strong><\/em>, aix\u00ed com del <strong>follet\u00ed <\/strong>i del <strong>c\u00f2mic<\/strong>. Parlem de literatura popular, majorit\u00e0riament d&#8217;evasi\u00f3, producte de la nostra forma de vida industrial (avui ja post-industrial) on l&#8217;oci i el consum van agafats de la m\u00e0.
